The role involves:
- Reverse engineering equipment to component level including creating schematics
- Researching the failing or stressed components and implementing design changes
- Generating reports, component lists, procedures and method instructions
- Developing test equipment and methodologies for faulty equipment
- Diagnosing using software and hardware all problems to root cause
- Working on faulty equipment to recreate the original reported fault or complaint
- Diagnosing and repairing electronic and electromechanical equipment to component level
- Fabricating, soldering and reworking of components and mechanics to affect the repair
- Updating the tracking system to clearly outline the materials used and technical activity taken
- Liaising with Customer services/Sales personnel to communicate clearly the issues to be resolved and solutions required for the client
- Document the test and repair processes and generate Instructions and sketches or drawings as required
The ideal candidate should have the following experience:
- Qualified with a degree in Electronic Engineering or Mechatronics
- Several years experience in repairing microprocessor embedded systems (Digital Electronics)
- A deep knowledge of Power supply SMP and Analog electronic circuitry design
- Proven expertise in electronic circuit board debug and repair to component level
- Capable of soldering and reworking surface mount and BGA components
- Good knowledge of Computer architecture and software tools and operating systems
- Knowledge of Apple and or Unix systems an advantage
- Fluent/advanced written and spoken English
- Comfortable working in a target driven environment
